Welcome to Karen Raymond Counselling

A non-judgemental, comfortable and confidential space to explore concerns

About Me

I qualified in 2004 as a humanistic counsellor, combining person-centred, transactional analysis and gestalt approaches. I have integrated existential, psychoanalytic and solution focused theory into my practice through continuous learning.

I believe that we all can make a positive difference to the world, feel happy with ourselves and be personally fulfilled. Yet, there are times when life may become more of a challenge, we may lose our way and become unmotivated, feel isolated and sad.

I have worked with many client concerns including: anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD, autism, low self-esteem, bereavement & loss, family issues, addiction, relationships, trauma, building confidence and finding meaning and purpose.

As a client you will experience me as someone who is supportive, and although respecting that you will ultimately find your own solutions, I will offer new perspectives and any knowledge that may be useful.

I am BACP registered and accredited and am fully qualified to work online and in person.

Counselling

You may not have had counselling before or you have had previous therapy. Either way, I will offer you a non-judgemental, comfortable and confidential space for us to explore whatever you wish to talk about together.

It has been well documented through research that the main key indicator for successful outcomes in counselling is the quality of the relationship between the client and therapist.

Recognising this, I am happy for you to make contact to arrange a call so that you can gain a sense of me prior to making an appointment.

Counselling will offer you an opportunity to talk through any concerns that you have and together we can work toward you increasing your awareness and understanding which can lead to positive changes. I am a respectful, compassionate practitioner who wants you to benefit from our sessions.

Supervision

I am a qualified supervisor and have been supervising individuals and groups since 2011. Within my role as supervisor I recognise that the quality of the relationship is fundamental to how supervisees and I will build trust and create a space in which we feel secure enough to be authentic, collaborative and free to communicate the processes that will support positive client outcomes. I respect supervisees’ personal and professional experience that they bring to sessions.

I work with therapists who are very experienced, those who are also supervisors themselves, newly qualified counsellors and student counsellors. I offer comprehensive support to all. In supervision I combine a number of theoretical models which include: Brigid Proctor’s Clinical Model, Hawkins & Shohet’s Seven-Eyed Process Model and Harris and Brockbank’s Integrative Approach.

Location

I work from my comfortable practice room in Guildford, which is easily accessible from Woking, Weybridge, Pyford, Byfleet, Knaphill, Pirbright, Bisley, Worplesdon, Ripley, Wisley, Shalford and Godalming. Specific location information will be provided prior to your appointment.
